Taking you back to the beginning of her story, Avery began competitive gymnastics at the age of 4 before retiring as a gymnast at 17 years old. She pursued competitive & collegiate dance, as well as high school cheerleading. Throughout decades in sports, Avery developed various injuries including mild scoliosis, low back pain, foot and rib fractures, as well as concussions, just to name a few. She sought care of her injuries through physical therapy where they helped her recover and forget about those injuries.
What attracted her most towards becoming a physical therapist was the ability to help people, remain active, build meaningful professional relationships, her love for health & fitness, and the ability to help others reach their goals. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with her B.S. in Exercise Science. Avery worked as a general manager, nutritionist and personal trainer at a local gym helping women reach their fitness goals while educating them about healthy life choices. A couple years later Avery decided she still wanted to pursue physical therapy and applied to the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences at the Austin, TX location. Nearly 3 long and hard years later, Avery graduated with her doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. She initially sought employment as a home health physical therapist working in the hill country region before finding her place as an outpatient physical therapist. She fell in love with the patients, the various types of diagnoses, the use of her resources and her amazing therapy team here at Professional Therapy Services. Avery strives to uphold compassion, apathy, and care for her patients as well as providing quality, evidence-based knowledge and skill to improve her patient’s outcomes.
Aside from enjoying what she does for a living, Avery is often found out hiking trails with her dog, sitting on a patio sipping wine, hunting & fishing, enjoying the river, exploring all the hill country has to offer, or hanging with her new friends.
