As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to implement individualized treatment plans, guide patients through therapeutic exercise and functional rehabilitation, and help them regain strength, mobility, balance, and confidence in a collaborative outpatient orthopedic environment.
Compensation
Hourly pay range: $31 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule and Caseload

Education:
Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Active New Mexico Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Outpatient orthopedic experience preferred.
- New graduates with strong outpatient clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
- BLS or CPR certification preferred.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Treat patients under the direction and plan of care established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Carry out therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual techniques, neuromuscular re-education, balance training, and mobility work.
- Help patients progress safely toward strength, balance, mobility, pain reduction, and recovery goals.
- Monitor patient response during treatment and communicate updates to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate patients on exercises, positioning, safety, and home program follow-through.
- Document treatment sessions accurately and promptly in the clinic’s EMR system.
- Communicate clearly with patients, Physical Therapists, clinic staff, and leadership.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional treatment environment.
- Build strong patient relationships through encouragement, coaching, and consistent care.
- Follow clinic standards, New Mexico practice guidelines, and PTA scope of practice.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of outpatient orthopedic physical therapy.
- Ability to follow and progress treatment plans within PTA scope of practice.
- Excellent communication with patients, Physical Therapists, and team members.
- Strong patient engagement, coaching, and education skills.
- Good clinical judgment when monitoring patient response and safety.
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage a steady outpatient schedule.
